Anthony Hopkins joins "Noah" cast

Though he already has the likes of Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Ray Winstone aboard Biblical epic Noah, Darren Aronofsky has found room aboard the story for more top talent. The director has announced on Twitter that Anthony Hopkins has signed to play Methuselah.

Hitting the social media network, Aronofsky tweeted, “I'm honoured to be working with the great sir Anthony Hopkins. We just added him to the stellar cast of Noah.”

The Dark Knight Rises screening

It is widely expected to be one of the year's highest grossing films, with some critics suggesting that director Christopher Nolan may be in the running for awards season glory. Now the first reactions are in from a select group of bloggers and fans who have seen The Dark Knight Rises, and they are overwhelmingly positive.

The Hobbit Is Finished!

There were several times in the now dim and distant past (well, only a couple of years ago, really) when we thought we’d never see The Hobbit start shooting. But the cameras began cranking on March 20 last year and now Peter Jackson has posted the picture above to Facebook, marking the end of the two Hobbit movies’ long slog through production.

Sharon Stone In Mother's Day

It was just two days ago that Andie MacDowell and Rainey Qualley joined the growing cast of Mother's Day. The pair are an even more fitting addition to the upcoming drama once you know the actresses happen to be mother and daughter in real life, same as the previously cast Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Martino. But the film won't be only be filled with actresses who share the female familial bond since Christina Ricci already has a part in the project, as does the newly added Sharon Stone.

Britney Spears on set of the X Factor auditions

Britney Spears and LA Reid appear to be leaving fellow X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato out in the cold, after puckering up on set of the auditions in Rhode Island.

Simon Cowell was nowhere to be seen and Demi Lovato was enjoying herself in Dunkin' Donuts, so Britney and LA Reid took the opportunity to tweet a photo of her kissing him on the cheek at the Rhode Island auditions.

And apparently quite pleased with the shot, Britney took the opportunity to show it off to her fans, retweeting LA's post and hinting that there would be more 'trouble' on the way.

American Idol Audition

Exactly one month after crowning Phillip Phillips as Season 11's "American Idol," the hit television series is once again on the hunt for the next singing superstar. The auditions' fourth stop drew more than 5,000 hopefuls to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday, all with dreams (or delusions) of hearing those four life-changing words: "You're going to Hollywood!"

Among the hopefuls "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, who was confident in Seasons 12's success.

The Biggest Loser casting call

NBC’s "The Biggest Loser" held a casting call Saturday for anyone with at least 85 pounds to lose. Casting directors hosted the calls at a Chicago Home Fitness in Downers Grove to find the right contestants for the show.

Show casting director Holland Weathers said one of the most important things contestants need is “the drive to win."

Would-be contestants like 23-year-old Jacob Larry think they have just that. Larry is a former professional eater who's won nearly $7,000 in his career, according to the Daily Herald. But now, at 295 pounds, he feels it's time for a change.

Barbra Streisand's Return To Directing

Most of the non-music career news about Barbra Streisand in the past little while has been about her taking a role in the brewing big screen remake of "Gypsy" set to be penned by "Downton Abbey" writer Julian Fellowes, but it looks like Babs has a little trick up her sleeve, and something that will come first.

'Madagascar 3' earns $35.5M, more than 'Rock of Ages'

A couple of high-profile openers couldn’t force the animals of Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted into their cages. The animated comedy topped the box office once again this weekend, while Rock of Ages and That’s My Boy delivered majorly disappointing debuts.
